Transcervical Access for Ultrasound-Guided Biopsy—A Safe Technique to Sample Apical Lung Lesions

Abstract Eight patients with apical lobe lung lesions referred for image-guided biopsy where the lesion was abutting mediastinal or pleura, and visible in ultrasound using a suprasternal–supraclavicular route were consented subjected to successful ultrasound-guided transcervical different routes based on characteristics location of vital vascular structures—either through thyroid gland, by side gland lateral common carotid artery, between artery after hydrodissection. Transthyroid access used 50% cases. There no immediate long-term complications any patient over mean follow-up period 28.5 months. Sample adequacy 100%.
